How High is a comedy set in the present days in Cambridge. Two American rappers, Method Man and Redman, plays two ordinary men, which are trying to get admitted to the Harvard University.
One day, the heroes come across a some kind of magical weed, which eventually ease them their way to the university (yep, that’s not a joke). After they are in, their lives totally changes. All of a sudden, they are in completely different surroundings and not really trying to fit in their closest circle. Their fun lasts until they run out of the magical weed. After this sad event, they are on their own and try to survive in the hostile world of learning and diligence.
The cast is tragic. Method Man and Redman may fit in gangster video clips, but in the movie they are just rubbish. And I do mean rubbish. Did you see “Tom and Jerry”? In comparison to the pair from How High, they are the masters of the screen (in spite of that they’re animated). Nevertheless, the line-up isn’t the biggest problem. The plot is. I do not know who created it, but I can imagine all the ‘magical weed’ he/she had to smoke in order to do it. It is so idiotic and dull, that even watching the grass growing is way more interesting. I would like to say something about the ending, but I didn’t hang on to see it. Furtunately, the music is quite good so it can stop you from slashing your wrists during a showing.
Is this movie worth seeing? If you are a drug dealer, you have “homies” instead of “friends” and one or two suspended sentences, you ought to watch it! Otherwise give it a wide berth.
