Film DOOM jednak na marsie !!!

Najnowsze informacje na temat filmu "DOOM":

The San Diego Comic-Con Doom movie panel is over and, thankfully, it was a worthwhile one. Dumb questions from the audience were down to a minimal (with one exception of a guy who was babbling so badly on the microphone that The Rock said to him "There must be good weed in San Diego") and we got two clips from the movie itself; the first is the upcoming 90 second teaser trailer that officially reveals that the movie version of id Software’s first person shooter will take place ON MARS rather than an unnamed planet as had been talked about in the past. The teaser trailer had a lot of quick cuts of The Rock; Karl Urban and the rest of the cast along with brief looks at the monsters, the environment (and they look right out of Doom 3, by the way; right down to the computer screens on the base) and battles with the monsters. The second clip is the one that got the most reaction; part of the first person shooter sequence featuring Urban’s character. Yes, the movie will at one point have a viewpoint just like the game, right down to the weapons loading animation. The sequence was, by the producer’s own admission, still incomplete in terms of visual effects and other elements but watching the clip feels like you are watching the game in action, from surprise monster appearance in corridors to shooting parts of the environment to fry the creatures.

The Q&A session had actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Karl Urban, producer John Wells and Lorenzo DiBonaventure and id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead, who mentioned that the entire id Software team got to see the teaser trailer in their offices a few days ago and when it was over it was met with applause from the cast. Everyone on the panel said that every effort was being made to make the movie faithful to the game and that it will be a R rated film. While there will be some CGI, the Doom monsters like the Baron, the Imp and the Pinky Demon will mostly be real monsters created by the Stan Winston Studios (who created the creatures in all the Terminator movies, Aliens, Predator and many more).

Both The Rock and Karl Urban were fans of the original Doom game before signing on to play the roles of space marines Sarge and John, respectively. The Rock said he got to use the classic weapons like the BFG in the movie and he, Urban and the other members of the space marine cast got real military training from a former SAS member to make sure that they worked together like a real special forces team would. All of the panel members mentioned that they were displeased that other movie adaptations of games strayed so far from the original material and while the Doom movie does have plot and character elements that the game does not have it still will be very close to how the game looks and plays. The Rock said that he saw a version of the movie a few days ago and in his words “It really kicks ass”.

Holleshead mentioned that id Software art director Kenneth Scott is very particular and wants things in the game to look just right and Scott said that the monsters in the movie are “awesome” according to Hollenshead. He also said he trusted the producers to make the movie and while they helped out with things like the script and the visual look of the film, id Software are not filmmakers. “John Carmack is the best game programmer in the world, but I would not want him directing my movie because that’s just not his skillset,” he joked.

While there wasn’t a lot of new info on the movie itself revealed in the panel, the movie footage and the enthusiasm that all the panel members have for the Doom movie based it clear that worries from fans about the final product may be premature. It’s still a few months away from the movie’s release date of Oct. 21, it looks like the Doom movie may not be just another crappy movie-video game adaptation. Of course we will continue to cover the movie up to its release.
