Half-Life 2 will now officially not make it out before Christmas 2003, according to several reports on the Internet this morning. The reports, citing an announcement by Vivendi Universal, blame last week's damaging incident where hackers leaked developer Valve's source code onto the Internet. Half-Life 2 was originally due to release on September 30.
VUG CEO Christophe Ramboz went on the record to French pubclication Les Echos today, saying hackers stole around third of the code for the entire game although it would be "almost impossible" for this code to be made use of in an effective and damaging manner. The game is now set for release - wait for it - in April 2004 And that's at the earliest.
Without question the biggest game in the world right now, Half-Life 2's delay till 2004 is a massive blow for the industry in the run up to Christmas and will also strike fear into the hearts of competitors who have been doing everything in their power to keep their own FPSs well clear of Half-Life 2.

To, ze temat jest kontrowersyjny i budzi rozne uczucia, znajduje odzwierciedlenie w ilosci watkow o HL2. Niech lepiej ci, ktorym sie to nie podoba nie zagladaja do nich, a nie tworza 50 % postow.
