Lupus [ starszy general sztabowy ]

Muzyka irlandzka .

Wczoraj w Olsztynie była impreza typu wieczór folk . Występowały trzy zespoły :Suschi z Krakowa , Shamway z Suwałk i Shannon z Olsztyna . Olsztyniacy dali jeden taki utwór z dudami , fletem i dużym bębnem . Kolesie mielu długie włosy i występowali w kiltach .

Zdecydowanie The Dubliners, Irish Drinking Songs

Masz tu troche tekstów na zachęte:

‘Tim Finigan’s Wake’

Tim Finnegan lived in Walkin Street,
A gentle Irishman mighty odd
He had a brogue both rich and sweet,
An' to rise in the world he carried a hod
You see he'd a sort of a tipplers way
But the love for the liquor poor Tim was born
To help him on his way each day,
He'd a drop of the craythur every morn

Whack fol the darn O, dance to your partner
Whirl the floor, your trotters shake;
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake!

One morning Tim got rather full,
His head felt heavy which made him shake
Fell from a ladder and he broke his skull,
And they carried him home his corpse to wake
Rolled him up in a nice clean sheet,
And laid him out upon the bed
A bottle of whiskey at his feet
And a barrel of porter at his head

Whack fol the darn O, dance to your partner
Whirl the floor, your trotters shake;
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake!

His friends assembled at the wake,
And Mrs Finnegan called for lunch
First she brought in tay and cake,
Then pipes, tobacco and whiskey punch
Biddy O'Brien began to cry, "
Such a nice clean corpse, did you ever see,
Tim avourneen, why did you die?",
"Will ye hould your gob?" said Paddy McGee

Whack fol the darn O, dance to your partner
Whirl the floor, your trotters shake;
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake!

Then Maggie O'Connor took up the job,
"Biddy" says she "you're wrong, I'm sure"
Biddy gave her a belt in the gob
And left her sprawling on the floor
Then the war did soon engage,
T'was woman to woman and man to man
Shillelagh law was all the rage
And a row and a ruction soon began

Whack fol the darn O, dance to your partner
Whirl the floor, your trotters shake;
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake!

Mickey Maloney ducked his head
When a bucket of whiskey flew at him
It missed, and falling on the bed,
The liquor scattered over Tim
Bedad he revives, see how he rises,
Timothy rising from the bed
Saying "Whittle your whiskey around like blazes,
T'underin' Jaysus, do ye think I'm dead?"

Whack fol the darn O, dance to your partner
Whirl the floor, your trotters shake;
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake!

Whack fol the darn O, dance to your partner
Whirl the floor, your trotters shake;
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake!

‘Hats Off To Beer’
There is a song that I love to sing
And I'll Sing it now for you
My friends, it is no mystery
It's of the fine brown brew
I have yet to meet the ale
For which I didn't care
And there's no pub in all the land
Where you won't find me there

Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer
Lift your glasses in the air
And give a hearty cheer
When the barrel is empty
We'll surely shed a tear
Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer

Seven days without a beer
Does surely make one week
It's pleasure in the company
Of a frosted mug I seek
I've travelled clear across the world
You know that I've been cursed
But the Devil doesn't know where a man will go
When he's dying of the thirst

Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer
Lift your glasses in the air
And give a hearty cheer
When the barrel is empty
We'll surely shed a tear
Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer

Mr. Killian would be proud
If he heard the old one say
"Another time 'round with the Irish Red
And the Devil, let him pay!"
Sometimes she's a happy wench
Or a beautiful maiden fair
But there's nothing else on this green earth
To which she can compare

Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer
Lift your glasses in the air
And give a hearty cheer
When the barrel is empty
We'll surely shed a tear
Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer

Now, there is but one dream I have
And of this, I will relate
It's not of riches, fame or power
For these are not my fate
Sure it's clear that I love my beer
And of this there is no doubt
And when I turn the kitchen tap
I wish she's come flowing out!

Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer
Lift your glasses in the air
And give a hearty cheer
When the barrel is empty
We'll surely shed a tear
Hats off to beer, me boys
Hats off to beer

ALL FOR ME GROG
(Traditional)

Chorus:
And it's all for me grog, me jolly jolly grog
All for me beer and tobacco
Well I've spent all me tin with the ladies drinking gin
Far across the western ocean I must wander

I'm sick in the head and I haven't been to bed
Since first I came ashore with me plunder
I've seen centipedes and snakes
And my head is full off aches
And I'll have to make a path for way out yonder

Chorus,

Where are me boots, me noggin' noggin' boots
They're all gone for beer and tobacco
You see the sole's were gettin' thin
And the uppers were letting in
And the heels are looking out for better weather

Chorus,

Where is me shirt me noggin' noggin' shirt
It's all gone for beer and tobacco
You see the sleeves they got worn out
And the collar was turned about
And the tail is looking out for better weather

Chorus,

Where is me wife me noggin' noggin' wife
She's all gone for beer and tobacco
You see her front it got worn out
And her tail been kicked about
And I'm sure she's looking out for better weather

Chorus,

Oh, where is me bed me noggin' noggin' bed
It's all gone for beer and tobacco
You see I sold it to the girls
And the springs they got all twirls
And the sheets they're looking out for better weather

Chorus.
THE LOUSE HOUSE OF KILKENNY
(Traditional)

The first of me downfall, I set out the door
I straight made me way on for Carrick-on-Suir
Going out by Rathronan, 'twas late in the night
Going out the West gate for to view the gaslight
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero

I went to the town's hall to see the big lamp
And whom should I meet but a bloody big tramp
I finally stepped over and to him I said:
'Will you kindly direct me to where I'll get a bed'
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero

'tWas then he directed me down to Cooks Lane
To where old Buck St.John kept an old sleeping cage
From out of the door was a small piece of board
Hung out on two nails with a short piece of cord
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero

I looked up and down till I found out the door
And a queerer old household sure I ne'er saw before
Then the Misses came out and these words to me said:
'If you give me three coppers, sure I'll give you a bed'
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero

Well I then stood aside with me back to the wall
And the next thing I saw was an oul cobbler's stall
And there was the cobbler and he mending his brogues
With his hammers and pinchers all laid in a row
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero

Then she brought me upstairs and she put out the light
And in less than five minutes I had to show fight
And in less than five more when the story was best
The fleas came around me and brought me a curse
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero

'tWas all around me body they formed a march
'tWas all around me body they played the Death march
For the bloody oul major gave me such a pick
That he nearly made away with half of me hip
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero

Now I'm going to me study, these lines to pen down
And if any poor traveller should e'er come to town
And if any poor traveller should be knighted like me
Beware of Buck St.John and his black cavalry
Fal-da-diddle-ay-do
Fal-da-diddle-dero
MOLLY MAGUIRES
(Martin/Coulter)

Chorus:
Make way for the Molly Maguires
They're drinkers, they're liars but they're men
Make way for the Molly Maguires
You'll never see the likes of them again

Down the mines no sunlight shines
Those pits they're as black as hell
In mud and slime they do their time
It's Paddy's prison cell
And they curse the day they travelled far
And drown their tears with a jar

So, ...Chorus,

Backs will break and muscles ache
Down there there's no time to dream
Of fields a'far a woman's arm
Just dig that bloody seam
Though they drain their bodies and their brow
Who'll dare to push them around?

So, ...Chorus and repeated chorus.
