He was afraid to his wife won’t know truth in future.
However, Terry couldn’t hide his romance with Vanessa Perroncel who are Wayne Bridge’s wife. Both players was friends from pitch and played in the same team. Bridge probably knew that his wife had an affair with his colleague but he hide it and change football team not to be with Terry in direct contact.
Player of Chelsea may be in serious troubles. Coach of representation of England said that this behavior was unworthy of captain. It’s possible that captain’s armband of national team might be lost by Terry.

Dziękuję, że poświęciłeś chwilę czasu na poprawę błędów. Staram się pamiętać o przedimkach, no ale jak widać, że nie zawsze wychodzi to najlepiej, a w szczególności w nocnej porze.

Although It might have been a rumour, Terry wanted to stop the press from covering the story, as he was afraid that his wife would learn the truth. Nevertheless, Chelsea skipper didn't manage to hide his affair with Vanessa Perroncel, who was Wayne Bridge's girlfriend (nie była żoną). The English Coach Fabio Capello have threatened to strip him of captaincy as his behaviour was morally unacceptable and unworthy of captain's armband.

Tu masz moją wersję, dużo zmieniłem, bo byków tez było dość dużo. Nie jestem do końca pewien tych czasów past perfect, ale chyba jest dobrze. Być może nauczyciel uzna, że to nieuzasadnione użycie. Cholera wie. Wynika to trochę z tego, że sama historia jest niejasno sformułowana i trzeba było na wstępie napisać o Bridge'u. :)

Co do tytułu, to jeżeli ma być prasowy, wtedy używa się present simple: tj. English captain cheats on his wife.
